Energy drink brand gives Patefields Distribution a boost to encourage road safety
Boost Drinks has teamed-up with Britain’s major road safety charity, Brake, to develop a road safety initiative for delivered wholesale truck drivers.
Throughout April, Boost will be placing its popular energy drink free of charge, into the cabs of road haulage firm Patefields in a bid to spread the message that energy drinks can save lives. Patefields is a family distribution business whose drivers cover the whole of the UK.
Recent statistics released from Brake say that commercial vehicles account for one-in-five of all road deaths, or 20 road deaths each week. Driver fatigue is held largely responsible, but that number could be reduced through the use of energy drinks.
Katie Shepherd, Fundraising Manager at Brake said: “Energy drinks can play a crucial role in making our roads safer. If any driver feels shattered when driving, we recommend they stop, have a caffeine-based drink, then nap for ten minutes while the drink takes effect. After that, the risk of them falling asleep at the wheel will be drastically reduced.
“We applaud Boost for recognising this, and coming up with a clever plan to use its products to make a difference, and help spread the message at the heart of an industry where driver fatigue is actually one of the biggest threats”.
Boost will also provide free Boost Isotonic and Boost Active to the busy warehouse staff and Boost Smoothies to the office staff, to help combat the dreaded afternoon chocolate craving.
John Patefield of Brian Patefield Ltd, said: “It is great when a brand comes up with an idea that goes above and beyond desk drops and we are pleased to help to support such a worthy cause. This is not just about promoting drinks, but actually communicating a serious message that can affect everyone.”
